

The mission of this department is to analyze and report data to improve the achievement of all Hampton students. This department is responsible for all division-wide standardized testing, benchmark assessment testing, survey administration and analysis and program evaluation. Once data is reported, the department will coordinate with other central office and school personnel to identify research-based strategies to target areas for increased student performance. The department is dedicated to assisting schools in providing the Hampton community with a quality educational program.

STANDARDS OF LEARNING RELEASED TESTS
This is the Virginia Department of Education’s website for releasing English, math and science tests each year. Seven years of assessments are available. This site is not interactive. Tests can be printed from it at no cost.

ePAT (PRACTICE ASSESSMENT TOOL)
This tool recently made available to the public the 2007 spring released SOL tests for grades 3, 4 and 5 in the areas of reading and math in an electronic format. These tutorials provide direct exposure to the format and structure of the questions, and enable users to receive direct feedback for each item. VA STATE STANDARDS OF LEARNING - Science, Math and Technology Practice Tests
This site is provided by Jefferson Lab. It includes released SOL tests in an interactive format that are available to everyone. It also provides the ability to practice tests by strand so that students can work on areas of weakness only. Only Math and Science assessments are available.

What’s New with the 2007
Released Elementary Math Assessments?
The recently released SOL assessments for elementary math revealed a few test barriers that need to be noted. These barriers include horizontal presentations, visual confusion and student errors as answer choices. The video you are about to view explains these barriers, shows examples for each and includes strategies to maintain our excellent success in mathematics.
