The city of Hampton is located on the Virginia Peninsula and juts right into the famous Chesapeake Bay. Located midway between Virginia Beach and Colonial Williamsburg, Hampton is the oldest continuous English-speaking settlement in America. It was here that the first American Christmas was observed, the first free education system was established, the first air force base was established (Langley Air Force Base), and it was here that the first seven astronauts trained at NASA’s world-renowned Space Center, for man’s first flights into space.
