It is the responsibility of the total school community to create and maintain an atmosphere that is conducive to teaching and learning. Everyone - students, parents, patrons, and school system staff members - has the right to expect that the school environment shall be safe, healthy, and effectively managed. The total school climate should produce security and consistency through the establishment of reasonable behavioral expectations and dress code guidelines that require an interaction based upon mutual respect and cooperation.
The Hampton City School Division supports the belief that there is a direct correlation between student dress and classroom attitudes and achievement. Therefore, students enrolled in the Hampton City Schools will adhere to the dress code policy and guidelines established and adopted by the Hampton City School Board as defined in the student handbook. Under the directions and supervision of the building administrator, the dress code guidelines shall be implemented, monitored, and enforced by the school staff. Final disposition of dress codes violations shall be determined by the school principal or his designee in a fair, equitable and consistent manner.
All students enrolled in Hampton City Schools are expected to dress in a manner appropriate for the promotion of pride and self-respect, and in a manner which will reflect wholesome attitudes and proper school conduct. Therefore, students must be well-groomed and neatly dressed at all times. Clothing worn should not be hazardous to the health and safety of the student nor disruptive to the educational program of the school.
The following schools have UNIFORM DRESS CODES, please visit their school web sites to view them.
