The safety of the school environment where your children spend much of their day, is a top priority for us. Since September 11, 2001, we have continued to review and update our safety procedures to ensure the coordination of our efforts with city officials.

In the event, an emergency takes place during the time your children are in school, please know that our schools provide a very safe environment. Therefore it is important that you follow these guidelines:

1. Ensure your own safety.

2. Your children will be “sheltered in place”, no need to come to school.

3. Do not call the school as this ties up the lines.

4. Tune in to the local radio and television stations for information.
The HCS InfoLine (727-6789), our cable television station WHCS Channel 46,
and our HCS web site (www.sbo.hampton.k12.va.us) will be activated for communication.

5. You will receive information from the external media outlets, as well as the HCS InfoLine, our web site, and Channel regarding the place and time you will be reunited with your child.
