The Department of School Operations and Maintenance is responsible for maintaining and supporting approximately 40 buildings and 3 million square feet. Each school year, the department receives in excess of 12,000 work orders for various services including building maintenance, security, solid waste, environmental concerns, custodial supplies and emergency calls. The large volume of work orders is managed by a computerized maintenance management program and is electronically available to all schools. In addition to routine work orders, the department manages scores of small scale service contracts and construction projects. Full service and rapid response to the needs of the division is the cornerstone of the department. The O & M staff are dedicated to serving all employees and students of Hampton City Schools and committed to providing a safe and friendly learning environment.
