School counselor selected as outstanding master's student

Charnita Clements, professional school counselor at Barron Fundamental Elementary School, has been selected as the 2024 Outstanding School Counseling Master's Student by Old Dominion University’s Darden College of Education.

Clements is currently a student in the first Old Dominion University educational specialist in school counselor leadership cohort. The cohort was developed in collaboration with Hampton City Schools department of student development and counseling and Old Dominion University’s department of counseling and human services.

“Mrs. Clements is a dedicated counseling professional and her hard work and dedication to the profession are seen regularly in what she does for students, parents, staff, and her colleagues,” said Carla Mahn, director of HCS student development and counseling. “She is very deserving of this honor and recognition.”
